One of central London's most reputable law firms is seeking a Funds Junior Associate to join their Financial Services division. This leading international law firm has expertise in undertaking complex corporate and property transactions, as well as commercial, tax and trust matters and disputes. The firm's lawyers provide legal services to a range of clients from all sectors of commerce and industry including multinational corporations, investment firms, domestic and foreign banks and lenders, major financial institutions, listed companies, SMEs, entrepreneurs and high net worth individuals.
Your new role
You will be joining the firm's Financial Services team and will be advising on a wide range of matters relating to the regulation of banking, securities and investment firms in the UK, acting both for authorised firms and those seeking advice on authorisation. Your clients will include banks, broker-dealers, investment advisers, investment managers, funds, providers of online trading platforms and startups. You will advise clients on PRA/FCA Handbook compliance issues and related legislation, including all EU law such as the Capital Requirements Directive, the Markets in Financial Instruments Directive (MiFID), the European Market Infrastructure Regulation, customer documentation, prime brokerage, introducing broker, custody and other agreements and commercial documentation. Day to day you will supervise junior members of the team including paralegals and trainees where necessary, take responsibility for your involvement in advisory and transaction work, and report to partners and senior associates as required.
What you'll need to succeed
You will require a minimum 2.1 degree from a reputable university, demonstrate a solid track record of advising on funds and private equity work, with at least 1 year's post qualification experience within a private practice funds team. You will need to be able to demonstrate commitment to funds and financial services as a legal specialism. Exemplary case management, organisation, direct client contact and care, and attention to detail are all essential skill sets. You will need to be able to delegate to and supervise secretarial and support staff as well as more junior members of the team and assist with department training. Experience of establishing and maintaining long term client relationships will also be advantageous.
