Data Protection Lawyer

LAW Absolute is currently seeking a Data Protection Lawyer to join a Local Authority based in the West Midlands.

This is an interim role for an initial three month assignment.

If you are successful upon application, you will be expected to carry out the following duties:

• Act as the Council’s designated Data Protection Officer ensuring compliance with Data Protection legislation and providing assurance when reviewing and addressing information enquiries, data breaches and complaints.
• Give technical and professional advice and guidance to the Council and Senior Managers in respect of Data Protection legislation.
• Give technical advice and guidance  in respect of Freedom of Information Act, the Environmental Information Regulations and other related legislation and regulation relating to Information risk and governance matters.
• Coordinate the development and review of information sharing arrangements with third party organisations to ensure that the council continues to work safely and within the guidelines of the Data Protection and Freedom of Information legislation.
• Ensure that business change and ICT developments take into consideration information management principles, security and risk assessments.

Due to the urgency of the role, it is essential that candidates are available on short notice. We are ideally seeking candidates available on no more than a two week notice period.

You must be able to meet strict deadlines and work well under pressure.
