Company with an international presence in the tourism sector are looking to hire their first Legal Counsel in Europe. This role is based in Central London and will initially be a 12 month contract but with a view to being made permanent further down the line.

About The Role

The Legal Counsel will be involved in a broad variety of tasks including:

  • Drafting, negotiating and reviewing a variety of commercial agreements relating to issues such as distribution, travel, licenses, NDAs, outsourcing, leasing and business services
  • Providing legal advice across the business' European operations
  • Engaging with third parties to assist sales staff in negotiating contracts
  • Conducting legal research and interpretation on issues such as data privacy, consumer protection, competition law and anti-bribery
  • Administering intellectual property rights for the European business
  • Managing relationships with external law firms

About You

The Legal Counsel role requires an individual with extensive experience of drafting and negotiating commercial contracts. Ideally you will have already worked in an in-house role. The client believes that the workload would be well suited to someone with at least three years PQE, although all applications will be considered on merit. The role could also be carried out by somebody who isn't necessarily a qualified lawyer. A contracts manager or paralegal with at least three years of working on commercial agreements could also be suitable.

Personality will also be very important for this job. As the only lawyer in the region, you must be confident, decisive, approachable, commercially-minded and able to operate outside of your comfort zone.

Candidates on up to one month's notice in their current role can be considered for this position, but ideally you will be immediately available.
