Commercial Property Solicitor – Residential Development

COMMERCIAL PROPERTY SOLICITOR – RESIDENTIAL DEVELOPMENT - MANCHESTER

Commercial Property Solicitor / Associate – The hugely successful residential development team of this leading commercial firm is expanding. With a long-standing reputation of working with all the major house builders and developers, they are looking to create a specialist hub within the Manchester office which will work effectively with the wider national team. The department is looking for solicitors with proven experience of site acquisition and plot sales as well as a true commercial understanding of the challenges which face this sector.

THE ROLE AT A GLANCE

  • Job title: Solicitor / Associate
  • Location: Manchester
  • Salary: £40,000 - £50,000 +
  • Reports to: Partner
  • Previous Experience: Experience of residential development work including dealing with developers, site acquisition and plot sales. The team is looking at a broad range of PQE and is looking to attract candidates from a range of backgrounds.

STRUCTURE OF THE TEAM

The residential development department is made up of qualified solicitors and experienced legal executives as well as a team of paralegals which supports the more senior fee earners. It already has an established reputation in the North West and national market, but the firm is also keen to raise their profile further and attract lawyers with an appreciation of business development and who will continue to push the brand forward.

The department operates in small specialist teams, which foster not only greater client care, but also a better environment in which fee earners at all levels can develop and thrive. The practice group also benefits from a very strong national network of offices which allows lawyers greater exposure to a variety of work.

RESIDENTIAL DEVELOPMENT

The challenges faced by the UK housing market are many and various. Lawyers not only have to be aware of the commercial angles facing developers, but also the political nuances especially when dealing with local authorities and other elements of the public sector.

Technical ability will always be key. However, this team are also looking for creative problem solvers and lawyers that can truly apply the law in a practical manner to deliver results. The ability to pick one’s way through the complex ‘black letter’ law which regulates the housing sector must be accompanied by a clear understanding of what the client wishes to achieve and how the get there.

OPPORTUNITIES FOR CAREER PROGRESSION IN A GROWING TEAM

The Manchester team is enjoying a period of growth at the moment with the result that the team presents real opportunities for progression. This is an exciting opportunity to join a big name in the market which is set to become an even bigger player in this sector.
