Legal Counsel

A great opportunity has arisen for a French Speaking Legal Counsel (UK) within a leading technology company. You will need to have a proven track record in either an In-house Department of a multi-national corporation or an international law firm. You will manage all legal operations in the UK & Europe including commercial transactions, business contracts (negotiating and drafting all major commercial license agreements with key customers in the UK & Europe), technology research & engineering support, as well as supporting employment, litigation and compliance initiatives.

Our client is a global leader in the payment solutions market and its Legal operation is spread across the United States, Europe, Asia and Australia. The UK office is based in South East London within commutable distance from Central London and offers an excellent working environment. They work closely with key industries such as financial services, retail, petroleum, restaurant, hospitality, tax, transportation and healthcare.

The role of UK Commercial Counsel will also cover work within Europe so proficiency in French is essential. The ideal candidate will be an experienced Licensing and Commercial Lawyer with a minimum of 6 years PQE and that experience will have come from working either in an International Law Firm or In-house within a multinational corporation. You will have a deep understanding of legal issues related to intellectual property and a proven record of building cross-functional relationships and fostering team work and collaboration, along with strong negotiation skills. There will be some overseas travel - anything from every 2 weeks to once a month - all dependent on internal customer needs. You will ideally have a background in the Payments/Technology sector and will have worked in a fast-paced environment and be able to handle high pressure situations and deadlines. The successful candidate will have clear and effective communication skills, and will need to demonstrate strong management and leadership abilities.
