In-House Commercial Lawyer

A new opportunity has presented within the Legal team of a leading Lloyd's Managing Agent, located in the heart of the City. The client is looking for an experienced company / commercial lawyer with a minimum to join on an initial six month contract basis, but with the opportunity for the contract to be extended or potentially become permanent. The client would ideally like this individual to join on a part-time basis but is flexible as to how this could be structured (i.e. reduced hours five days a week).

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing legal assistance to all areas of the business, including other members of the Legal Team in a mentoring capacity. Particular emphasis is given to advising senior management, underwriting teams and claims' handlers. You will advise senior management on new business opportunities, commercial contracts, company and corporate matters as well as reviewing, and advising underwriters on policy wordings and product development, and providing assistance to claims handlers on claims' queries and management of disputes. There will be some involvement to a lesser extent in advising on compliance, employment and tax issues, company secretarial duties etc.

You will be expected to interact with and provide high quality, commercially minded, advice to senior management, board members and company employees. The ideal applicant will have excellent commercial awareness and demonstrate the ability to make prompt decisions and show a proactive approach.
