Our client is a well established Law Firm with offices in the Greater Manchester area.
They are now looking to appoint an Immigration Solicitor
Role
- To undertake matters which you are competent to conduct having due regard to the policies and procedures defined in the Office Manual relating to your areas of work.
- Providing accurate and practical advice on all aspects of the UK immigration and nationality law and have private client work experience.
- Drafting certificates of sponsorship, entry clearance, applications and further leave to remain applications
- Regularly liaise with UKBA over the telephone and keeping clients informed of the progress of their application
- Keeping up to date on changes to UKBA policies and procedures
- Perform fee earning work accurately, reliably and in accordance with the firm's quality and risk management procedures and accreditations.
- Ensure proper control of work in progress, billing and cash collection.
- Attendance at most or all partnership and other office or departmental meetings, leading by example with contributions made at and subsequent to such events.
- To draft legal documentation as required.
- To support other litigation departments through training and the provision of appropriate legal information in relation to your respective competence.
- Be effective in developing new work from existing clients.
- Gain or maintain IT skills appropriate to modern legal practice, such as ability to send, forward and respond to e-mails with or without attachments, conduct research on internet and ensure proper filing of all data.
- Understand the main uses and applications of the office telephone system - e.g. be able to re-route calls, set up conference calls, etc
Candidate Profile and experience:
- Good background in Immigration and Nationality Law
- Qualified Solicitor with 3 to 5 years PQE
- Up to date with UKBA policies and procedures
- Able to generate new business both internally and externally
