Senior Compliance Lawyer

An excellent opportunity has arisen at a highly regarded law firm based in Wiltshire for a Senior Compliance Lawyer.

The firm have a strong presence in private client and have recently moved into the top tier rankings. Their partners have trained at top city firms and they boast a quality of work similar to the top tier city firms. Due to having a high net worth client base, they also provide excellent corporate and commercial advice as well as property, especially for rural estates, and charity specific advice.

The firm are proud of how far they have come with their risk and compliance and best practice, but appreciate there are still areas they can improve on. Therefore they have identified the need to hire a Senior Compliance Lawyer, and this is the newly created role.

They are seeking a talented lawyer who has experience with all aspects of compliance who is keen to join a firm receptive to new ideas and make a real difference to the firm.

Day to day the Senior Compliance Lawyer will be responsible for anti-money laundering, anti-bribery and corruption, compliance with the SRA handbook, conducting risk reviews, and maintaining risk registers. They will be the point of contact for any risk issues, for example reputational risk, and they will advise the COLP and COLFA .

There will also be project work, ensuring the firm is complying with relevant legislation, for example GDPR. Updating policies and procedures and ensuring all staff are trained will also fall under the remit of the Senior Compliance Lawyer.

It is anticipated the successful applicant will be a talented lawyer with at least 6 PQE and have experience with risk and compliance. Ideally you will already be focussing on this aspect, however the firm are open to a lawyer who is in a split role, fee earning and looking after the compliance, who is seeking to specialise in compliance.
