Due to continued growth in the team, my client (UK top 50 law firm) is seeking a confident and experienced Conveyancer to join their legal team. You will be based in Northampton on a full time basis working 37.5 per week. The hours are split Monday to Friday from 9.00am to 5.30pm (taking an hour for lunch) plus Saturdays from 9.30am to 4.30pm on a rota basis along with fellow staff in your team. Time off in lieu is given for each Saturday that you work.
Main responsibilities
The successfull candidate will be running their own Conveyancing caseload and therefore must be familiar with the entire conveyancing process, prefably in high volume.You will be dealing with work from instruction through to post completion, and all types of transactions including leasehold flats; plots etc.
In addition, you will be dealing efficiently with purchase of plot transactions, sales of part and more complex matters such as the purchase of freeholds, drafting of easements, drafting of Statutory Declarations or Declarations of Trust subject to supervision where reasonably prudent.
Skills and qualifications
The suitable candidate must be able to hit the ground running with minimal supervision.
You will have experience in checking legal title to all freehold and leasehold transactions and be able to deal with all elements of these transactions and will have a proven track record for winning and servicing new clients. In addition to this you must be comfortable developing systems and support staff in order to grow the business. The ability to draft more complex precedent documentation would also be beneficial.
In addition, you will have experience in drafting non-standard correspondence of a technical nature.
You will be aware of associated areas of law such as Probate, Insolvency and Matrimonial which may affect transactions and will also be familiar with the wider aspects of the housing and conveyancing markets.
On a personal scale, you will be enthusiastic, organised and determined in order to help the residential conveyancing department continue to service its clients in a highly professional manner. As part of a high volume department, you will be be able to work well under pressure and will demonstrate confidence to use own professional judgement and be able to prioritise your work load effectively.
