In-house Legal Counsel: Thomas Cook Airlines UK

Thomas Cook UK Airlines seeks to recruit a Commercial Solicitor to work as In-house Legal Counsel at its Manchester Airport head office. The role is pitched at solicitors with circa 1-3 years' PQE commercial experience and existing aviation / travel sector experience is a distinct advantage however not imperative!

To help the UK Airline continue to provide a high-quality and award winning service to its customers, a new role has been created for a c. 1-3 years' PQE commercial solicitor to join our growing in-house legal team.

Working as In-house Legal Counsel, in support of the Head of Legal - UK Airline, the post-holder will be responsible for day-to-day legal advice to the UK Airline business as well as taking a lead role in Group projects on behalf of the UK Airline.

Specific accountabilities of the role include:

- drafting, reviewing and negotiating a wide variety of commercial contracts, with a particular focus on airline-specific agreements - e.g. maintenance contracts, IT agreements, goods and services agreements, and marketing agreements;
- drafting, managing and executing transactional aircraft specific agreements;
- negotiating operating leases, wet leases (hiring of an aircraft and crew), engine leases and line maintenance contracts;
- managing commercial disputes and litigation;
- providing support to key stakeholders on day-to-day and projects matters;
- developing and delivering commercial training;
- assisting with other ad hoc legal matters.
