My client, a global educational institution is looking for a Data Privacy Manager to join their team on a long-term fixed term contract basis. This client has a well-respected and prestigious reputation in the education sector. The role offers extensive exposure to a wide variety of data privacy work with a focus on the incoming GDPR.

The Data Privacy Manager will work with the In-House Legal function as well as work with various functions in the business, including IT, Finance, Marketing, HR, and other teams.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Developing a GDPR project plan including planned milestones for project success
  • Building key relationships throughout the business and securing business buy-in for the GDPR project
  • Preparing and distributing update reports to relevant parts of the business
  • Collaborate with the in-house counsel to manage data protection related work as well as manage external advisors in relation to the GDPR project
  • Provide briefings and advice to management and the business on changes that will need to be implemented and then providing steps on how to implement the GDPR project
  • Attend data protection compliance training and disseminate relevant information to the business and legal team
  • Assess and document current data held including data capture points and storage mechanisms
  • Assessing and maintaining lists of third parties and external sources of data
  • Ensuring the Information Asset Register is up to date
  • Prepare an audit of communication types, channels, audiences, and frequencies
  • Work together with colleagues in managing the consent campaign and consent KPI's

Candidates of interest will be:

  • Experience as a Data Protection Officer is an asset but not required
  • Strong communication skills and able to communicate and impart data privacy policies to IT professionals, product development professionals, and other members of the business such as R&D, HR, and marketing as well as other members of the legal team
  • Experience working on a GDPR implementation project
