BANKING PARALEGAL / OPERATIONAL ADVISOR - MANCHESTER

Banking Paralegal or Advisor – A fixed term opportunity has arisen in the Manchester office of this in-house corporate banking team. They are looking for a paralegal or advisor to work with the relationship managers in the team from a more operational point of view. This is not a technical legal role, as such. Instead it requires somebody to support the relationship managers and keep an eye on the internal processes of the corporate banking team to ensure things run smoothly.

THE ROLE AT A GLANCE

  • Job title: Banking Paralegal or Advisor (in-house) FTC – 3 months
  • Location: Manchester
  • Salary: £20,000 - £25,000
  • Reports to: Operations Manager
  • Previous Experience: Ideally candidates should be able to demonstrate previous experience working in the corporate banking team of a recognised bank or lending institution. Candidates may have, for instance, worked in an operational, compliance or regulatory capacity. Knowledge of bank lending systems and familiarity with bank protocols and processes would be a major advantage.

REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION

The role is quite varied and can involve anything from data inputting and amending documentation where necessary as well as keeping an eye on cash flows and ensuring they are achieved before relevant cut-offs.

The role is designed to support the relationship managers who are regularly dealing with loan facilities of up to around £25m. Responsibilities also include:

  • Identifying any customer service issues and escalating them where appropriate;
  • Suggesting improvements to customer service;
  • Ensuring risk management protocols are followed; and
  • Being a point of contact for members of the team so that any issues in relation to a particular loan product can be raised.

AN OPERATIONAL ROLE

As mentioned above, this position requires candidates to work from a more operational perspective rather than a technical legal one. The successful candidate will be required to get to grips with various loan products and support the relationship managers who are dealing with that product.

Candidates should be able to work to tight deadlines and be proactive at all times. This would be an ideal fixed term contract fo anyone with the right transferable skills who is looking for a role to tie them over. There is also the possibility that the contract may be extended or become permanent.
