Our client, a leading international law firm require a coordinator to support their legal recruiting and professional development program for the firm’s London office.

Duties & Responsibilities

Graduate Recruitment:

  • Key point of contact, both internally and externally, for queries relating to graduate recruitment and development.
  • Assist with all aspects of employer branding (ensuring adherence to the firm’s branding guidelines), including review and updates of all promotional materials, publications and advertising.
  • Coordinate and attend the annual milkround at universities and provide support and assistance on other profile raising events targeted at university students, such as practice specific presentations and skills sessions on campus.
  • Using relevant tools, assist with preparation of metrics and reports to assess return on investment of attraction strategies.
  • Support the Manager, Training Principal and Graduate Recruitment Partner with preparation for and coordination of the Summer Scheme and Insight Day programs, and recruitment processes for training contracts.  This includes screening CVs, arranging interviews, and all associated administration and logistical arrangements.
  • Coordinate onboarding and leaver processes for summer scheme students including all joiner/leaver paperwork and records, and pre-employment checks.
  • Maintain a program of liaison with future trainees.
  • Coordination and booking of the trainee induction program.

Lateral Recruitment:

  • Support the Manager with all lateral recruitment activities including booking interviews.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with legal search firms, as well as other recruitment contacts and resources.

Recruiting and Evaluation Systems:

  • Maintain the tracking of all candidates, including speculative CVs, and associate and counsel evaluations using local tools and via vIDesktop.

Professional Development:

  • Support the Manager, Training Principal and Graduate Recruitment Partner with the trainee solicitor seat rotation process and ensure mid-seat and end of seat evaluations are completed.
  • Track all current and future trainee training, from the GDL to qualification, and proactively deal with any training issues or queries that arise, escalating to the Manager, as appropriate.
  • Support the Manager, Training Principal and Graduate Recruitment Partner with the trainee solicitor qualification process, including coordination of and submission of all SRA paperwork and checks.
  • Keep up-to-date with SRA regulations and developments governing trainee solicitors.
  • Assist with initiatives, projects and systems to further associate, retention and promotion.
  • Provide guidance to attorneys regarding their integration into the firm and ongoing career development, escalating queries, as appropriate, to the Manager.
  • Coordinate and administer training programs and arrange instructional materials for associate career planning, and for senior lawyer coaching.
  • Support with the coordination of the office lawyer mentoring program, keeping accurate records of mentoring pairings and any changes as appropriate.
  • Work with the Manager to update and enhance new associate orientation, lateral attorney integration, mentoring, and other talent development-related programs.
  • Using relevant tools, assist with preparation of metrics and reports to assess ongoing attorney needs and to evaluate effectiveness of career development programs and initiatives.

General:

  • Provide regular updates to the Manager, and keep the Manager apprised of any noteworthy matters.
  • Process invoices and work with the Manager to track all costs related to legal recruitment and development activities, ensuring they are within budget.
  • Promote diversity principles and good practice, providing advice on current initiatives and supporting new diversity initiatives and projects.
  • Work with the London HR team to ensure the team is aware of recruitment developments that will have a wider HR impact, to ensure that the HR function provides a seamless service to the business.
  • Support the Manager with visa applications for future trainees, lateral hires and secondments to London as required.

Qualifications:

  • At least 2 years’ experience of coordinating and administering law firm or professional services recruitment programs. 
  • It is desirable for candidates to also have experience in administering career development programs.
  • A good level of educational attainment.
  • Excellent time management and prioritisation skills.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in MSWord, Excel and PowerPoint.  Well versed in Apply4Law (preferred), or a similar recruiting database/software
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.  Proven ability to work in a team environment with staff and attorneys at all levels.
  • Some travel required (for law fairs).
