Our client who is based in Cheshire is looking to recruit a mid / senior level Head of Contracts/ Legal.

The client's aim in developing these centres is to bring expertise, innovation and investment together to improve the pathway towards national and international commercial success for new discoveries and businesses.
The client and its partners will work together to identify approaches which are more predictive, efficient and of higher scientific and economic value than is currently available, enabling them to become world-leaders in the industry.
Description
This role would empower someone with previous experience of a Commercial and Contracts role, or an in-house lawyer, with some public-sector exposure. The candidate should have a thorough understanding of the exploitation of intellectual property and its protection, of public procurement law, and should be able to provide commercial and IP support to the client in transactions and bids, helping to frame and support the Company's commercial propositions and collaborative R&D contracts.
Responsibilities
- Drafting and advising upon R&D based agreements, for example R&D Collaboration Agreements, Consultancy Agreements, Service Agreements, Data Sharing Agreements and commercial contracts
- Interpreting and advising on general commercial contracts, review of supplier T&Cs, outsourcing and procurement
- Ensuring the organisation's compliance with its legal obligations.
- Interaction with key stakeholders both internally and externally with respect to R&D agreements
- Accountable for the diverse commercial and legal affairs and risks of the Catapult
- Providing commercial advice to the Company's Business Units on bids and proposals, whilst ensuring compliance with State Aid and other relevant legislation
- Reviewing and responsibility for EU tenders, submissions and compliance
- Responsibility for contracts with the Company's grant and other funding arrangements with public authorities
- Experience of managing Procurement and Contracts function
- Be the main point of contact with the Company's external legal advisers
- Any other duties dependent on the needs of the business which may occasionally require the attendance of events off site.
Essential skills and experience

- Legal and IP issues that can arise when drafting R&D based agreements such as title to IP rights and the enforceability of such contracts.
- Understanding of state aid issues.
Desirable skills
- Understanding of state aid and public-sector procurement
- Legal qualification an advantage but not essential

Job Offer
The level of salary will be commensurate with the level of PQE. Solicitors of 2/ 3 years plus up to senior level should apply.
