Court of Protection / Private Client lawyer Harrogate

Our client is one of the best known in North Yorkshire and they are expanding

They are looking for an exceptional lawyer to join the busy and friendly team. This is a full-time post,
preferably for someone with 2 - 4 years PQE. However, they would consider a part-time post for the
right candidate.
Their Legal 500 and Chambers ranked private client team covers the full range of private client
matters, including Wills, Inheritance tax planning, Trusts, Probate, Powers of Attorney and Elderly
Client matters. They are looking for someone with particular experience and interest in Court of
Protection matters as this is a growing area for the team. You must have a passion for this area of
law as they have a fabulous client base and this is a fantastic opportunity to develop your skills. The
team is well regarded and the successful candidate would be expected to contribute to business
development and be pro-active in participating in marketing initiatives.
Principal responsibilities:
? Be responsible primarily for a Court of Protection caseload including deputyship applications,
running ongoing cases where lawyers in the firm are Deputies, advising clients on capacity
related matters, making applications to the Court of Protection for statutory Wills, gifts,
changing Deputies, or applications concerning powers of attorney. Contentious Court of
Protection matters are dealt with separately in our Dispute Resolution team
? You will also assist the team by handling your own diverse case-load of more general private
client matters, liaising with and assisting more senior lawyers as appropriate;
? Deliver legal services of outstanding quality that are focused on the client's needs with a quick
and accurate turnaround of legal documents;
? See clients unsupervised (after initial training) and advising them and drafting relevant
documents;
? Attend meetings with clients to oversee execution of documents;
? Undertake any other reasonable duties as required by senior lawyers/team leader.
Person Specification:
Knowledge and experience
? Previous Court of Protection and private client experience is essential;
? High level of IT skills are essential as the candidate will be expected to produce some of their
own documents and use a case management system;
? Full STEP membership, or willingness to undertake study to achieve this, would be an
advantage;
? Full membership of Solicitors for the Elderly, or willingness to undertake study to achieve this,
would be an advantage;
? You will be working to benchmarked service levels.

? Good numerical skills.
