Head of Private Client
We are recruiting for a Head of the Private Client department for a law firm on the Wirral.
Duties will include, but not be limited to,
• Manage a case load of high net worth complex administrations • To manage and supervise the Private Client department, taking responsibility for their achieving their billing and key performance targets. • To be responsible for case supervision of fee earners in the performance of their case work by monthly file reviews, monthly review meetings and by day to day supervision, discussion and problem resolution. • To provide professional lead, legal training and supervision to the Private Client department • To be responsible for devising and implementing a structured and ongoing private client training programme, to ensure all fee earners and support staff have best practice standard knowledge of relevant private client law and practice. • Advising on all aspects of trusts, including lifetime, will trusts, elderly client and acquired brain injured trusts, draft administration and tax issues. • To take responsibility for the professional lead of the Private Client department, fee earners and support staff, ensuring the delivery by the teams of the professional service provided to external and internal clients. • To create and maintain a source of best practice template letters and documents. • To provide appropriate input to ensure the firm retains Lexcel accreditation. • To provide supervision, advice and guidance on technical and professional matters to the other members of the Private Client department. • To conduct departmental appraisals. • To be responsible for the professional standard of work done by the group to be measured via regular monthly and other file reviews.
Key areas of responsibility:
• Provide leadership to the department to ensure organised, client focused, cost effective and efficient service delivery. • Deliver effective supervision of best practice and full implementation of case management standards across the department through day to day support of team members • Development and delivery of effective union client relationships to achieve the firm’s strategic objectives to increase private client case intake. • To provide advice to the Professional Deputy and provide supervision for fee earners working on Court of Protection cases involving those that have been seriously injured. • Develop and implement strategy for expansion of Court of Protection department, including work for those who have been seriously injured and elderly client services. • Using business acumen to carry out strategic review of the department and current process and practices. • Properly recruit, select, train, actively develop, motivate and manage team members to empower them to delivery their accountabilities and achieve their full potential. • Implement and uphold all the firm’s policies and procedures. • Display the knowledge, skills and behaviours required by the firm and set out in the Lexcel Leadership and Management Culture statement and Key Behaviours document. • Design and implement ongoing business strategies to develop the Private Client department and grow revenue streams. • Taking responsibility for the growth and success of the team through networking and building up volumes of high quality profitable work. • Effectively communicate with group members ensuring regular review of group processes, problem solving and creative thinking. • To manage a personal part case load.
