COURT OF PROTECTION
The Court of Protection is the judicial authority which presides over matters where individuals do not have sufficient mental capacity to make decisions for themselves with regard to their own financial matters. This could be due to the fact that a given individual has severe learning disabilities or has developed dementia in old age.
In terms of day-to-day responsibilities, the successful applicant will support more senior fee earners in progressing cases through the Court of Protection. You will also hone your drafting skills in relation to drafting court documentation or other documents such as enduring or lasting Powers of Attorney as well as conducting research where necessary.
It is worth also noting that this team also works closely with other areas of the Private Client Practice Group involved with administering trusts and financial planning.

Candidates should be bright, have excellent prioritisation skills and be able to work to tight court deadlines where necessary. The team is interested in meeting those who have gained experience of the Court of Protection as well as graduates or LPC students who have an excellent academic record and are looking to progress.
