Interim General Counsel

A Financial Services company, based in the city of London and listed on the London Stock Exchange, is currently looking for a General Counsel to join on an interim basis.

Working closely with the Group Company Secretary the General Counsel will be responsible for a broad range of matters including;

• Setting internal governance policies and providing legal advice to the wider business
• Providing commercial advice to the business including drafting, reviewing and negotiating a range of agreements
• Management of external counsel and overseeing litigation
• Overseeing corporate matters including acquisitions and purchase/sale agreements
• Identifying solutions to eliminate/mitigate risk
• Attending board meetings where required

The General Counsel will be responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders as well as being the point of contact for legal queries.

The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate experience within the Financial Services sector and listed experience will be advantageous.

The duration of the role will initially be 6 months with the likely chance of extension. Please note we are only able to consider applicants who are available immediately or on very short notice due to the urgency of the role.
