Trading Standards Officers Required, Birmingham, Competitive Salary, Leading Local Authority

Your new company

Due to long term sickness, we are now looking to recruit Trading Standards Officers to work in Birmingham on a temporary, ongoing basis. Your new role

As a Trading Standards Officer, you will be required to work on complex enquiries in relation Consumer Affairs and fraud investigations. This will cover consumers and businesses across the region for senior level queries in line with Consumer Protection Legislation. There may also be the requirement for operating outside of normal office hours to conduct investigations and surveillance. You will also be dealing with Weights and Measures enquiries and be able to test the related equipment.

What you'll need to succeed

It is essential that you are a qualified inspector of Weights and Measures and have dealt with complex complaints and investigations in relation to all Trading Standards Legislation, including fraud. It is also essential that you have an understanding of Police and Criminal Evidence Act and other legislation that control the gathering of evidence and conduct of investigations. In addition, you will have an ability to understand and apply a range of Consumer Protection Legislation such as the Consumer Rights Act and a proven track record in enforcement.
