Our client is a Nasdaq listed US headquartered biopharmaceutical company in Phase 3 of its clinical testing. This role is based at Kings Cross and supports the UK and European operations. Reporting to the US General Counsel and working closely with the European General Manager and other London business leaders, your appointment will be to lead the global legal function in the UK and Europe.

You will initially join as Sole Legal Counsel working broadly across commercial legal issues to include assisting in building the legal function and head count as the organisation continues to grow. Our client is geared for significant growth in the UK and Europe, and it is a great time to be joining.

Specifically, your responsibilities will be:

  • Lead the UK/EU legal contracting function as part of the global team
  • Draft and review all necessary agreements and documents customary to a pharmaceutical company at clinical stage
  • Create template contract documentation
  • Lead and advise on a variety of commercial legal issues both in the UK and Europe for matters such as IP, real estate, litigation, employment, corporate matters, data privacy and GDPR compliance
  • Provide advice on regulatory matters
  • Manage corporate governance and compliance for international subsidiaries
  • Deliver training where necessary

To be ideally suited to this role you will be:

  • A Senior In-House Lawyer with the requisite experience to function in a sole legal capacity, especially working broadly across a variety of commercial legal matters
  • An excellent communicator, proactive and forward thinking with a solutions focused approach to your work
  • Able to work with a high level of autonomy and able to work alongside and collaborate with senior stakeholders and leaders across the organisation
  • Able to demonstrate your ability to project manage, solve legal problems and work across matters pertaining to both English Law and European Legislation
  • Confident in your drafting skills
  • Able to travel at times when required
