Job Purpose

To assist procurement with the drafting and creation of contracts and related documents. Working with the procurement team in contract negotiations with suppliers. To support enforcement of contract terms, assertions, claims and remedies against suppliers.


Key Accountabilities

* To take the lead role in ensuring all supply chain activities are undertaken in accordance with all applicable legislation
* To ensure that any legal requirements are embedded within policies, templates and guidance in a timely fashion and that team members are able to implement such requirements competently.
* To provide day-to-day advice, support and guidance to colleagues in respect of legislative matters, taking a solution focused approach to business problems and providing a risk based analysis of options available.
* Populating template contracts for Supply Chain function
* Working with the legal function to ensure adherence to process and approval of contracts.
* Contract and NDA retention and reporting
* Review suppliers' terms and conditions and advise relevant Commodity Manager of any areas of risk, ambiguity or commercial disadvantage, for example termination clauses.
* Where disputes over contract terms arise, providing initial advice and support to the team in terms of interpretation of contractual requirements.
* Work with Supply Chain team to ensure that appropriate legal requirements are included in contract terms and monitoring.
* Building strong working relationships across the Supply Chain Management department to develop understanding of current legislation.
* Providing guidance on sharing of sensitive data along the supply line while still maintaining an adequate level of protection.
* Providing advice and guidance on different cultural and legal differences in managing global logistics.


Qualifications/Experience/Requirements

* Ideally a qualified solicitor/legal executive.
* Either an LLB (Hons) law degree or other equivalent legal qualification or a College degree in Business Management or Engineering, or other equivalent experience.
* Significant experience in SC management and/or contracts management and/or Business Development.
