Education Solicitor - Corporate Focus

We are working with a Higher Education team within a leading international private practice. They are looking to bring somebody on board to take the lead with the Corporate and Corporate Governance matters.

This is an opportunity to join a leading sector focused Education team within one of the leading UK law firms.

The team has a client base of leading Higher Education clients and act as their legal advisors on all matters. The Birmingham team is a specialist sector focused team which largely picks up Commercial and Corporate/Governance matters, as well as working alongside colleagues in other teams to offer a full service to clients.

An opening has arisen in the team for somebody to come in and take the lead on Corporate matters, working alongside Commercial counterparts in the team.

This is an exciting time to be part of the Education sector with lots of changes to legislation and an increasing appetite for collaboration projects and joint ventures.

You will be taking the lead on Joint Ventures, M&A, Restructuring, Corporate Governance matters and any other bespoke or niche project work on behalf of the institutions. You will have junior fee earners working alongside you who can assist on the projects.

The role will be very client facing and you will be seen as their go to person on Corporate and Governance matters. The team is also heavily involved in pitches and business development work so you will also have opportunities to help drive forward the department alongside the head of the team.

The clients are all leading institutions and you will deal with the senior stakeholders at these clients.

The role could suit a Corporate lawyer who is perhaps frustrated with the demands and deadlines within a M&A team and is looking to do something a bit different. Whilst the team's clients are demanding, there is a different dynamic to a regular Corporate team and the late nights associated with them.

Profile

Ideally you will have some experience within the Education sector and will have experience running Corporate deals and dealing with Governance matters.

It's likely you will have at least 4 years' PQE but our client is willing to look at candidates with varying levels of experience.

For the right person, the team could look at a frustrated Corporate lawyer without the sector experience but who is wanting to do something different and is attracted to this particular sector.

Equally, the role might suit a lawyer with Corporate experience within the public sector / healthcare sector or charities sector who is looking for a change in focus.
