The Firm
This friendly firm has been established in Bishop Auckland for thirty years and was founded with the philosophy of providing a personal service to the local community, an ethos which has been maintained throughout its history. The founding partner still works for the firm, which advises in private client, criminal, property and general civil litigation as well as family work. A vacancy has now arisen for a lawyer to join the firm to take on a busy caseload of family, and especially children law, matters. This is an opportunity to join a very friendly, close-knit team with a fantastic level of staff retention and a great reputation in the local community.
The Role
You will be a solicitor or legal executive with a strong background in general family work and in particular, experience in private and public-law children matters. The family law department deals with the whole range of family law matters including applications to court for financial relief, and provides various funding options as well as Legal Aid. The successful candidate will be taking on a busy caseload of children matters including offering advice and representation in matters relating to contact or residence and social services intervention or care proceedings.
The Candidate
You will be a solicitor of 3+ years’ PQE or a similarly-experienced legal executive;
Membership of the Law Society Family Law and Children Panels would be advantageous;
Experience in Legal Aid funding is required;
You should have an empathetic approach, with the ability to explain complex matters in clear, accessible language as well as determined and robust advocacy skills;
Great team-work skills are required and a willingness to promote the work of the department in particular and the firm in general.
