This is a junior Legal Counsel position for one of the large global Integrated Japanese Trading houses. The business, with European headquarters in London has highly diversified revenue streams and there is a broad base of work on offer across
Corporate projects (including M&A and more general corporate) as well as more general Commercial work.
Client Details
Our Client is one of the large Integrated Japanese Trading houses with a European hub based in Central London and offices throughout Europe and the rest of the world.
Description
The main responsibilities with this role include, but are not limited to:
- Advising on various legal issues, including: M&A support, competition law analysis, drafting and negotiating commercial agreements.
- Assistance with maintaining the Company's various compliance policies (Bribery, Entertainment, Data Protection, Competition, Document Retention etc).
- Reviewing counter-party's policies to ensure compliance with the Company's.
- Being aware of statutory and regulatory changes and understanding their applicability across the group.
- Managing company secretarial work for the Company and a number of group companies.
Profile
The successful candidate is likely to be a UK qualified lawyer with between 1 to 6 years of post qualification experience gained either in an in house legal team or a top tier law firm.
Essential:
- Corporate (M&A) and/or commercial and company secretarial experience.
- A willingness to learn and take on work in multiple areas including corporate, commercial and company secretarial matters.
Very desirable:
- Experience of working in a Japanese company as an in-house lawyer or alternatively representing and working with Japanese companies when in private practice.
- Some experience of German law would also be welcome.
