The role
Reporting into the Legal Director for the EMEA region, the successful candidate will occupy a broad and strategic role, providing diverse legal support in all matters pertaining to the business, but also acting as a regional functional lead on intellectual property issues. He/she will tackle assignments that are varied and complex in character, providing counsel to different functions within the business (including managers and senior technical employees in business units, the sales, services and support organization, marketing, IT, business operations, human resources and the finance department). Strong emphasis will be placed on the preparation and review of a variety of contracts, and advising on various legal issues involving, among other things, intellectual property, technology licensing, software licenses, and internal IP-related processes and training within the EMEA region. The Senior Legal Counsel will also work in close collaboration with Global IP in the US.
The role will be based in the Western suburbs of Paris. Occasional travel will be required.
Profile sought
The successful candidate will be a EU qualified legal counsel (with fluent English and French), bringing a minimum of 7 years' relevant experience, with a proven track record supporting on complex commercial contracts across EMEA , acting as the responsible IP lead, and supporting a global IP portfolio. Experience with IP/commercial/technology licensing are fundamental requirements. Familiarity working in a US company and navigating complex structures is a must as well as an international mind set, a can-do attitude, operational excellence and a pragmatic business approach. The ability to build and maintain strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders is key, as well as being able to exercise sound legal and commercial judgment, working in close collaboration with colleagues and peers.
