Responsibilities:

  • Working alongside the Bank's lawyers supporting the Global Markets and Investment Banking Businesses to support with dealings involving Chinese clients or counterparties, regulatory issues, or documentation in the Mandarin language
  • Contributing in internal and external meetings in Mandarin and interpreting where required
  • Interpreting legal documentation from the Mandarin into English and vice versa
  • Formulating legal documentation and reports in both English and Mandarin
  • Carrying out other functions performed on behalf of the Legal Department as & when required.

Experience required to successfully perform the role:

  • Experience of working at a Law firm or a Financial Institution
  • Native (or near native) fluency in both English and Mandarin
  • Legally qualified in the PRC and/or legally qualified in a common-law jurisdiction (England and Wales ideally).

Knowledge, technical skills and expertise:

  • High level of integrity
  • Knowledge of FCA rules and regulations or equal
  • Understanding of risk and control
  • Finance management
  • Knowledge of emerging markets
  • Global outlook.
