Duties and responsibilities

At Clyde & Co we recruit according to competencies which are linked to our Career Development Framework. As an Associate, the post holder will be responsible for:

  • Demonstrating knowledge of relevant legal principles and procedural/statutory frameworks
  • Identifying potential arguments, claims and solutions
  • Demonstrating a good knowledge of the law, keeping up to date with relevant developments and understanding the impact of those developments
  • Ability to conduct legal discussions and build strong rapport with clients, understanding their needs alongside industry and commercial issues
  • Handling multijurisdictional claims for airlines and insurers
  • Dealing with subrogated recovery matters
  • Advising on issues of insurance coverage
  • Knowledge of choice of law and jurisdictional issues
  • Reporting to airlines and insurers in bordereau format

Experience 

The successful candidate must hold a relevant bachelor's degree or equivalent. They will be a qualified lawyer with relevant post qualification experience, specifically in the area of insurance and disputes, at a top tier firm. Due to the nature of the role and firm the candidate will ideally have international experience advising on liability and subrogated recovery claims for insurers/reinsurers and specific experience of handling liability and subrogation claims in the Indian subcontinent is highly desirable albeit not essential. The candidate should also have proven ability to advise on issues of insurance coverage.

Annual Salary: £65,000 - £75,000 plus benefits and allowances depending on circumstances.
