SUMMARY

  • Job title: Employment Associate
  • Location: Manchester
  • Salary: £40,000 - £50,000 (depending on experience)
  • Reports to: Partner / Head of Department
  • Previous Experience: Candidates should ideally demonstrate around 1-3 years PQE as an employment solicitor. Candidates should demonstrate an excellent academic background with sound technical understanding.

THE FIRM

The practice is a highly regarded firm with a long-standing reputation especially among SME clients, many of whom are well-stablished North West companies who have instructed the firm for some time. The employment team works quite closely with the corporate and commercial team as well as having their own client base.

MIX OF WORK

Given the nature of the employment team, its size, an the fact that the firm is more of a full service-practice, lawyers within the team gain access to a very broad range of work from respondent to claimant work as well as litigious and advisory. Our client is looking for employment lawyers who are looking to become well-rounded advisors instead of specialising in one particular area. The emphasis is on gaining exposure to a broad variety of instructions.

IDEAL CANDIDATES

All candidates from all firms will be considered. The nature of the department is such that it consists of solicitors from large national firms as well as those who have started at smaller firms and who have then made the step up to a larger city-centre practice. In essence, therefore, our client does not wish to be prescriptive on who they wish to attract.

In general terms, they are looking for solicitors with a clear passion for employment law and who are comfortable dealing with a variety of work, whether that be advising the director of an owner-managed business or supporting the corporate team where necessary.

Solicitors at all levels are also expected to take an active role in business development whether that be in presenting employment law update seminars or organising events. In short, this is a vibrant, dynamic employment law team and would suit anyone who is looking for a genuine challenge working for an established name in the market.
