An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Legal Counsel to join the MiFID II negotiations team of a global investment bank for a six-month contract, based in Canary Wharf.

About the role

Reporting into the Senior Legal Counsel of the MiFID II negotiations team, the Legal Counsel will be responsible for providing legal support on several legal agreements and will review and manage a high volume of client responses in response to these new agreements.

Key responsibilities

  • Reviewing and evaluating client communication regarding the bank's standard agreements and terms of business
  • Advising the bank's lawyers and internal stakeholders on material deviations, legal and commercial risks of clients' requested changes
  • Negotiating with clients on contractual amendments and drafting amendments to reflect agreed changes
  • Ensuring ongoing development and quality control of negotiations materials and template documentation

Key requirements of the role

  • Qualified solicitor with experience of working within a client facing role
  • Strong negotiation and drafting skills
  • Strong stakeholder management skills
