This is a position assisting the Head Litigation as part of a team of five contentious lawyers as Legal Counsel (Property Litigation) in London at a housing association which is the UK's largest home builder and maintenance organisation.

Client Details

The hiring organisation is a housing association which manages just under 100,000 homes across London and the South East of the UK. With an emphasis on regeneration, this organisation has recently become London's largest developer of new homes. This hire is part of the continuing workload which has come into existence following the continued expansion of the organisation.

Description

This role offers a varied caseload with particular emphasis on disrepair claims.

You will also undertake work connected with varied housing management and property related disputes including:

  • repairing obligations,
  • anti-social behaviour proceedings,
  • injunction applications,
  • freehold/leasehold disputes and boundary disputes.

Your duties will include

  • drafting pleadings,
  • advice on quantum,
  • Part 36 offers; and
  • Tomlin Orders.

As well as managing your own busy caseload with minimal supervision, you will provide support and assistance to the Litigation Legal Manager. Your caseload will involve advocacy in the County Court.

Profile

The successful candidate is likely to:

  • be a qualified as a Solicitor or Barrister in England Wales
  • have between 2 and 6 years of post qualification experience dealing with a range of housing management litigation matters in particular disrepair claims.
  • Be skilled in County Court advocacy - NB: experience of advocacy is a pre-requisite for this position.
  • Be knowledgeable about the relevant legislation, case law and civil procedure rules.
  • Able to undertake legal research and present this is in a client-friendly manner to our internal business customers
