Legal Counsel (Temporary Contract, Maternity Leave Cover)

                   

This is a contract role to cover maternity leave. The successful candidate can be based in the either the UK or Dublin offices and report to the Head of European Product Legal. They will provide advice and support in respect of the European fund and product range, with specific focus on the UK fund range and operations.

The Role:

  • Support product development functions as they relate to European based products and the registration of the funds abroad (in over 30 countries).
  • Provide ongoing legal services, draft and negotiate agreements, provide solutions to various legal queries, help to improve internal procedures in relation to products.
  • Review new laws and regulations and assess the impact on the relevant products and business units; advice on legal and regulatory environment; liaise with external counsel and/or regulators.
  • Represent the team in external meetings and fund associations, as required.
  • Act as a liaison with company secretarial, compliance, risk and internal audit functions within the group working with these areas to ensure a joined-up and co-operative approach.
  • Assist with the maintenance of a know-how data base with useful precedents and legal opinions.

The Person:

  • Legal qualification, with substantive post qualification experience (3 -5 years) in fund related environment, working at a senior level and in a relatively unsupervised position.
  • A thorough knowledge of fund structures, as well as of the European investment management industry and legislation (UCITS, AIFMD etc.) is very important.
  • Experience with UK domiciled funds and the UK Financial Conduct Authority is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and can demonstrate confidence and tact when dealing with key stakeholders, board members and senior management.
