We are looking for a Defendant Personal Injury Fee Earner to run their own caseload of fast and multi-track matters and assist on higher value/catastrophic injury cases. In addition this particular team deals with coverage and property damage matters.  

We are looking for candidates with high calibre training and experience in EL/PL claims, are technically capable and can develop excellent relationships with clients.

We advise on Defendant personal injury claims covering the entire range from ‘slip and trip’ to catastrophic personal injury and all manner of claims in between.

Type of Clients:

  • Large composite Insurers
  • Lloyd's syndicates
  • Large corporate clients
  • Type of Cases:
  • Defendant EL & PL personal injury claims as well as product liability matters, ranging in value.
  • The vast majority will be litigated cases although occasionally there is some early pre-litigation advice required.

Requirements

Qualifications:

Essential:

  • CILEX qualified or experienced non-qualified fee earner
  • Good academics (2.1 or higher degree or equivalent)

Experience:  (Type, length, quality, background)

Essential:

  • 4 - 5 years defendant litigation experience within detailed knowledge of personal injury claims. Claimant experience will be considered*

Desirable:

  • To have had previous client contact and attendance at business development events.

Skills and Abilities: (Technical, self-management, managing others)

Essential:

  • Understanding the needs and drivers of the client.
  • Ability to analyse client papers and provide an appropriate review of the same applying technical knowledge of the relevant legislation/case law and showing awareness of the strengths and weaknesses of the claim and evidence.
  • Considering tactics and advising on further enquiries where required and providing a coherent strategy for the claim, whilst at the same time applying a commercial and economic approach.
  • Good organisational skills and the proven ability to manage and conduct a caseload, knowing when to seek assistance.
  • Excellent organisation and file management skills, to include own diary management and ability to ensure Court deadlines are met (or extensions obtained prior to their expiration). Ability to comply with client SLAs. 
  • To be proactive and find innovative solutions to the clients’ legal  problems.
  • Good communication and effective negotiation skills (written and verbal).
  • Strong technical knowledge of the usual personal injury area and a willingness to learn by research and discussion.
  • Attention to detail.
