As a result of continuing expansion, a vacancy has now arisen for an experienced asylum caseworker to join the firm in the Birmingham office.
The Role
You will be attending clients held in detention, advising them on a range of matters relating to immigration and asylum applications and assisting them with the completion of the relevant documentation; undertaking casework relating to the preparation and management of those applications to the Home Office including undertaking advocacy in court, including making extension applications in relation to Legal Aid funding. The firm encourages all members of staff to undertake additional outreach work, such as liaising with local communities and making presentations, which may involve some out-of-office travel.
The Candidate
Our client is looking for an experienced caseworker who is fully conversant with the Legal Aid and IAS requirements:
Possesses excellent drafting and document production skills, with a strong command of English grammar and spelling:
Has a meticulously detailed approach, with excellent record-keeping ability;
Have excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex matters in clear, accessible language;
And is a robust and determined negotiator and advocate.
