About the General Counsel role:
This is a great opportunity for an experienced lawyer coming ideally from an in house back ground to build an entire legal function within an expanding and successful challenger bank.
Desired Skills:
- Broad and practical knowledge of residential property law, including experience of dealing with secured loan legal issues, origination and redemption's
- Knowledge of commercial law and an ability to analyse, report and advise on a range of contracts
- Knowledge of the PRA and FCA regulation would be beneficial
Responsibilities:
As the starting sole counsel (General Counsel) you will be responsible for engaging with all senior stakeholders of the business and providing timely and commercially sound advice in relation to lending within the residential and commercial real estate space. Beyond the role's duties day to day, the longer term strategy is to build the legal function within the business from the ground up and maintain the quality of service for the business as well as managing engagement with external counsel.
