Description
Strategic Advice and Projects
- Take a lead advisory role on a range of corporate, commercial and procurement matters
- Distil ideas coming from operational management and personnel and prioritise key initiatives based on growth potential and shareholder value
- Support the business in generating tactical commercial options and see the consequences/implications of each option
- Act as a problem solver, providing pragmatic guidance with a good sense of judgement, appropriately balancing the competing interests of facilitating business, protecting assets and limiting liability
- Support due diligence
Contracts Review and Approval
Procurement Contracts
- Ensure that the legal part of the procurement processes is efficient
Disputes
- the provision of advice on strategy and tactics in order to achieve the optimal outcome
- managing dispute budgets
- helping negotiate settlement with or without the aid of mediation, where possible
- Support compliance programmes
- Investigate any compliance issues, as may be requested from time to time
Profile
We are looking for:
- A qualified solicitor with 2 plus years PQE
- A commercial solicitor who wants to move in house
- has achieved 'trusted adviser' status within a commercial team and other functions with whom they have worked
- at least 3-5 years relevant PQE;
- the ability to win the confidence of key individuals through a commercial and pragmatic approach, offering innovative ideas and solutions. The ability to win people over, rather than directing people what to do;
- good negotiating skills with the ability to identify the main value and risk issues and to resolve them effectively in line with the business case;
