In-House - Interim Corporate / Commercial legal counsel - 12 months - Full time - Midlands based - start asap

Client Details

The client are a global FTSE listed business with excellent presence in the UK & Ireland, EMEA, US and AsiaPac regions.

With one of their main hubs based in the Midlands you will join a medium sized Corporate M&A team, which is part of a much larger overall legal function.

We are looking for an experienced interim corporate / commercial counsel to start as soon as possible on this interim assignment for the duration of up to 12 months.

Day rate is subject to experience.

Description

Responsibilities include:

  • Interim corporate / commercial counsel
  • Legal risk management
  • Working on large scale projects
  • Supporting the Head of Corporate on large deals as well as being able to run small deals
  • Leading and supporting on Mergers, acquisitions and disposals
  • Joint ventures
  • Investments
  • Corporate restructuring
  • Liaising with multiple areas of the business
  • instructing external counsel when necessary
  • Assisting with commercial contracts, drafting, negotiating and advising.
  • Working closely with GCs across the UK, Ireland and EMEA regions.
  • Dealing with matters involving competition law

Profile

the successful candidate must have the following skills and experience:

  • Must be a UK qualified solicitor
  • previously worked as a corporate / commercial counsel
  • Must have an in-date practising certificate
  • Have trained within a private practice and then gone on to work in-house as an experienced legal counsel.
  • Extensive corporate experience and proven track record of M&A deal experience is crucial
  • Also need to have experience working on joint ventures, disposals, corporate restructuring and project driven work.
  • Excellent commercial contract skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • able to work in a fast paced and at times demanding corporate team and demonstrate resilience and a pro-active mind set.
  • have commercial awareness and engage in business strategy
  • Strong with customer facing and stakeholder management
  • Must be a string team player and work in a collegiate, supportive way
