COSTS TEAM LEADER - MANCHESTER
Costs Team Leader – This role represents an excellent opportunity for a costs negotiator or draftsperson looking for a step up with a well-established team in the Manchester market, but which is set for more expansion. Perhaps you are currently a fee earner within a costs department or maybe you already have some team leading experience on which you wish to build.
KEY FACTS
- Job title: Costs Team Leader
- Location: Manchester
- Salary: £30,000 - £35,000 (depending on experience)
- Reports to: Partner, Head of Costs
- Previous Experience: Previous fee earning experience from a reputable costs team. Prior team leading experience would be an advantage, but is not critical. The team is willing to consider candidates looking to make a step up.
THE TEAM
This is a well-established costs team in Manchester within a highly successful national law firm. The team advises on a broad range of civil litigation costs-related matters and is looking for an accomplished fee earner who is searching for their next challenge.
The firm has an enviable client list and have also built certain key niche specialisms for which they are a leading practice. The role of team leader is part of a new initiative to further grow the team so securing the right candidate is vital.
THE RIGHT CANDIDATE
Our client is hoping to attract a confident, experienced fee earner with the right personal and managerial skills and attitude to lead a team of more junior fee earners whilst managing a reduced case load. The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the team in relation to issues such as:
- Managing the team’s workload and work flow depending on fee earner capacity;
- Reporting to the Partner and Head of Department on operational performance and possible ways to improve efficiency etc;
- Mentoring and motivating members of the team, not just in terms of their day-to-day performance, but also their long-term career aspirations;
- Being a reliable point of contact for any issues which may arise either in relation to the technical aspects of a given file or the personal pastoral need of members of staff.
This is a role that requires a blend of technical legal ability plus the ‘softer’ management qualities to get the very best out of people.
PROGRESSION
The nature of this role lends itself to further progression within the team. The successful candidates will be reporting direct to Partners and playing a major part in the overall development of the practice group.
