Construction Solicitor – If you are looking to join a thriving construction practice offering an exciting mix of transactional and litigious construction work, this may well be the opportunity you are looking for. Following a senior lateral hire, the team is looking for an Associate from anywhere from 1 to 5 PQE to help grow the team.

THE ROLE AT A GLANCE

• Salary: £40,000 - £60,000
• Reports to: Head of Construction
• Previous Experience: A mix of contentious and non-contentious construction experience would be ideal, yes this is not critical. Most of the work is non-contentious with some litigious work. The team is looking for bright, capable individuals with a flair for understanding how complex contracts and projects fit together.

NATURE OF THE WORK

This particular team is involved in highly technical construction projects across a range of sectors including oil, gas and general infrastructure. The department works with global clients engaged in large-scale schemes both home and abroad. The Liverpool team has a particular, reputation for this kind of work and is constantly recognised in the legal press.

The transactional work encompasses everything from drafting and negotiating construction agreements and development contracts, including warranties as well as more ancillary documentation. As for the contentious element, this is more in an assisting capacity. That said, it will still afford the successful candidate excellent exposure to high profile construction litigation and the complete dispute resolution process.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

The team is looking to attract candidates who have already gained a thorough understanding of construction work from either a non-contentious or contentious background. You may well be looking to step up to a larger team offering greater exposure to more high-profile deals. Or you may be looking for a department offering genuine career progression.

Either way candidates should demonstrate both an excellent academic background as well as proven practical experience as a construction solicitor from a recognised firm.

This particular role has appeared due to the influx of transactional work and the department is looking for someone to help grow and develop with the team. The level of PQE has been set particularly broadly to encourage a broad range of applicants. Candidates looking to relocate to the North West are also being actively considered.
