An opportunity has arisen for a commercial lawyer to join a leading brand and pioneer in the education sphere as in-house Legal Counsel at their Head Office in Milton Keynes on a twelve month Fixed Term Contract with the potential to become a permanent position.
The Role
Reporting to the Head of Legal the primary responsibility will be to support the Business Development and Sales Teams, taking the lead on commercial contracts and general legal advice. The role will include:
* the provision of legal advice on tenders, including submitting bids, responding to invitations to tender and requests for quotations;
* drafting, negotiating and reviewing commercial contracts including the provision/sale of goods, services and research;
* the provision of advice on a range of commercial legal issues such as data protection, freedom of information, intellectual property and procurement;
* liaising with key stakeholders within the organisation, including the Group Accountant or Finance Director and provide ad hoc legal advice in response to any queries as well as attending meetings with senior staff to offer a legal perspective.
The Person
The successful lawyer will have good experience of reviewing, drafting and negotiating commercial contracts and be able to tackle issues with a commercially-minded approach Experience of working within a large, complex organisation would be desirable, as would experience of working with government bodies.
