Our in house client based in Sheffield is recruiting an In House Commercial solicitor to join their legal team.
Client Details
Our client is a unique and exciting new institution. Their objective is to make finance markets work better for UK small businesses. It was established in 2014. Currently, they employ around 250 people, split between their two offices in London and our Sheffield office.
Description
- Primary responsibility for reviewing commercial contracts
- General corporate commercial support to the business, including reviewing NDAs and MOUs, standard terms of business, press releases and other promotional material, board and committee papers and assisting with the preparation of the annual report and accounts.
Profile
For the In House Commercial Solicitor role the candidates need to have the following attributes
- Ability to work closely with the procurement team and business functions to enable them to procure goods and services from suppliers, including IT services and technical and professional advisory services
- Good technical skills essential with knowledge of, or a demonstrable willingness and capability to learn public procurement law, essential
- Familiarity with "framework" style supply agreements an advantage
- Knowledge of state aid, public law, freedom of information, data protection and judicial review an advantage but full support will be given for candidates that do not have relevant experience
- In-house corporate commercial experience preferred, including on secondment
- Experience of working in the legal department of a central government department, an arm's length body or other publicly sector body an advantage
- Willingness to get involved in other "business as usual" aspects of a busy, high-performing in-house legal department sound judgement, with an ability to provide commercially sound legal advice proportionate to the legal, reputational and operational risks inherent in the task at hand
- Ability to work as part of a team and "manage upwards""Can do" attitude with good interpersonal skills
- Comfortable working in fast paced environment, capable of prioritising competing demands
- Working collaboratively both within the legal and secretariat team and with other central functions, including procurement, finance, risk and compliance, HR, and IT
Job Offer
The salary will be commensurate with the level of PQE.
