The appointment will be on UCL Grade 10. The salary range will be competitive, inclusive of London Allowance.
The Legal Counsel will be a key member of the University’s Legal Services Team and will be responsible for providing advice on a wide range of legal matters relating to the University including drafting and negotiating complex agreements, managing litigation and dispute resolution processes and advising on intellectual property issues, charity matters, governance issues, student complaints and appeals, research ethics and the legal aspects of funding agreements. The Legal Counsel will lead on specific projects within the Legal Services Team and will report to the Director, Legal Services.
The candidate must be a qualified solicitor or barrister preferably with at least two years’ post-qualification experience (this is a guideline only - candidates with the required level of skill and experience outside of this pqe level will be considered). The candidate is required to have experience of dealing with a wide range of legal issues, up to date technical knowledge and demonstrable experience operating and influencing at senior management and board level.
