Our repeat client is currently looking for a full-time, ambitious, junior commercial lawyer who would like to become an integral part of a friendly, growing, fast paced legal team within one of the most high profile trade unions in the country.

Client Details

Our client is a nationally renowned trade union working on well publicised and high profile matters.

Description

The role will involve working closely with the senior solicitor and other legal department members as and when required, including:

  • Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a broad range of commercial agreements including procurement, outsourcing, IP/IT, ecommerce, marketing, corporate governance, trademarks, media and defamation;
  • Drafting and reviewing other legal documentation to meet the organisation's commercial requirements;
  • Assisting with legal research and analysis of documents and case law to ensure the accuracy of advice and procedure;
  • Assisting with governance and compliance matters including data protection and GDPR;

Whilst commercial law is central to this position, the role will also offer the opportunity to assist with the preparation and running of complex and often high profile legal cases, such as high court judicial reviews, including instructing counsel, drafting court documents and attending court hearings.

This is an opportunity for a junior to mid-level PQE candidate to expand their skill set and grow into a strong in house lawyer.

Profile

The successful candidate would be likely to be a 3-4 year PQE solicitor, qualified in the UK or an equivalent jurisdiction with full rights to work in the UK without the assistance of sponsorship.

The role is broadly non-contentious (but with a very small element of litigation occasionally).

The ideal candidate will have a thorough background in commercial/contract law, but the work will involve much more than this as this in house legal department also advises on a breadth of areas including:

  • data protection (in particular the new GDPR regime),
  • corporate governance,
  • IT,
  • IP,
  • confidentiality,
  • charity law etc.
  • The candidate is not expected to have in-depth knowledge of all of these areas, but a general, strong understanding of commercial law and experience of a wide range of contracts is a pre-requisite.

    Some in-house experience would also be ideal.

    Job Offer

    Excellent package and high profile work at nationally renowned trade union organisation.

    Excellent work life balance.
