This is a broad commercial legal counsel position at one of the world's largest energy businesses.

Client Details

Our client is one of the largest energy generation businesses in the world and one of the six largest providers of energy on the UK.

Description

The main responsibilities with this role will be to support the provision of legal services to all corporate functions primarily in the provision of timely and commercially relevant legal advice in relation to a variety of contractual and statutory issues.

You will review, draft and support or lead (depending on complexity) in the negotiation of contracts and issues arising from their operation and management especially TMT, Research and Development and general Commercial contracts.

To support corporate transactions and initiatives led by the Finance and Mergers and Acquisitions team

To assist in creating and maintaining awareness of processes and procedures relating to compliance matters such as GDPR and IT Security and to instruct, assist and manage external sources of legal advice where necessary.

To take a proactive and considered approach to urgent litigation and dispute resolution matters in the absence of the Head of Legal and Principal Solicitor.

Profile

The successful candidate is likely to:

  • be a 2-5 year PQE UK / Common law jurisdiction qualified solicitor with experience of delivering a pro-active forward looking and business focused service
  • have knowledge of one or more of commercial, IPR, Corporate or TMT law.
  • Familiarity with property law may be useful.
  • have confidence, enthusiasm and willingness to work in different areas of the law as well as strong, analytical, research and drafting skills
