A leading UK national law firms looking to add to their UK-wide employment law team with the hiring of an additional lawyer at the NQ-2 years PQE level- this role will be based in Glasgow.

Role Profile:

This role offers the chance to work as part of a large and highly-skilled employment law team providing genuine coverage across the UK. You will also have the chance from highly-experience, Chambers ranked Partners and a wider team with genuine depth in employment law experience.  The firm combine cutting edge/strategic expertise on complex advisory work (particularly trade union and industrial relations, TUPE, large scale re-organisations, whistle blowing and restrictive covenants), with cost effective support on "business as usual" issues. Additionally, the team also draws on the expertise of our established pensions and share schemes teams. This is an opportunity to work with many household names as clients including: Sainsburys, Co-Op, Biffa and WH Smith. 

Key Tasks:

  • You will have your own high quality but varied caseload and will work closely with the partners and other team members. Employment law matters will include:
  • Employment tribunal claims (predominantly acting for Respondents).
  • Helping employers manage issues in the workplace such as disciplinaries, grievances, restructuring and redundancies.
  • Providing employment law support in corporate deals and outsourcing contracts, contract drafting and client training.
  • Enforcement of post termination restrictive covenants.
  • Drafting of contracts of employment, consultancy agreements, staff handbooks, settlement agreements and other employment related documentation.
  • Business development including training.

Candidate Requirements: 

  • Solid background in employment law with a minimum of a 6 month seat during traineeship.
  • Team player and has strong client management skills. 
  • Ability to provide employment law advice in a commercial context. 
  • Experience advising public sector clients would be beneficial.
