In house legal counsel - British Engines

THE COMPANY

British Engines is a leading engineering group operating across the globe. Its eight businesses design and manufacture core industrial components for a wide range of industries including the oil and gas, chemical, marine, construction and agriculture sectors.

The group's legal team is well integrated with the senior management teams and plays a key role within the business, offering strategic guidance and support to achieve legal and commercial goals. We are currently looking to recruit an additional commercial lawyer to join the team.

THE ROLE

Reporting into the Compliance Officer and Legal Counsel, you will work with the various businesses across the British Engines group providing advice in connection with a wide range of commercial agreements. These will include high value and complex contracts, the sale and purchase of goods and services, distribution and agency agreements, and other general responsibilities including GDPR issues, compliance matters, training colleagues on legal questions and process improvement.

ABOUT YOU

The successful applicant will have a strong track record in commercial contracts, be a confident communicator and be able to work at all levels of the business. Applicants must be adept at drafting and negotiating contractual terms, as well as reviewing commercial agreements to identify risks; providing advice and giving guidance on mitigating those risks. The role requires particular skills which are likely to have been gained through at least two to three years pqe, however, approach and attitude are also important.
