Working as part of the Legal cross border banking Team to provide support on a wide range of work with senior bankers on cross-border regulatory frameworks including regulatory implementation projects supporting various digital project as the bank moves to paperless banking and other digital banking initiatives
The Role:
- Providing Legal support to key cutting-edge technology / digital projects.
- Assisting with a project to re-write and fully update our standard business terms and conditions for Jersey and the UK
- the entire client journey, from on-boarding to the end of the relationship (including termination and probate)
- Assisting with regulatory implementation projects, including the application of PSD2 and MiFiD2 and GDPR.
- Organising and managing the cross-border regulatory knowledge base, which includes legal opinions from every country in EMEA
- Working with and advising Bankers on regulatory and operational issues; banking and custody products; and their ability to offer services into various offshore jurisdictions.
- Supporting the business and Compliance in complaints management
- Team Work: Ability to engage with both a senior legal team and a multi-functional team on a partnership basis.
The Person:
- A general grounding in financial services regulation and experience with banking; and
- experience working with digital projects, for instance in relation to the launch of new digital apps/functionality or advising on e-signing and paperless acceptance of documentation
- Currently working on regulatory implementation projects and experience drafting ‘plain English’ customer terms and conditions and general experience in relation to custody
- Strong attention to detail: Ability to apply the care and exactness required in client disclosure documentation
- Able to meet the time demands of a profitable and market-driven business
- Conceptual thinking, creativity: Ability to view the larger picture of the product process and associated risks, and to advise senior management on appropriate structures, applicable regulation and best practice
- Communication: Ability to assimilate complex issues and communicate concisely and clearly
- Able to keep on top of a rapidly evolving regulatory environment whilst assisting the business to develop innovative but appropriate products and structures
- Able to identify legal risk and to escalate issues on an appropriate basis
- Able to work in a professional but demanding environment
This lawyer will be exposed to a wide range of legal work across a broad spectrum of products and services. The role will involve working directly with business teams and legal colleagues in London and Switzerland as well as on a global basis.
