SCCTD is made up of Special Crime, Counter Terrorism and the Appeals and Review Unit and deals with some of the most challenging casework in the CPS. We have specialist teams of high performing specialist prosecutors, paralegals and other staff who work closely with a wide variety of investigators, partners and stakeholders here and abroad.  We also hold a large number of complex policy portfolios linked to our specialisms and our staff are regularly asked to advise and assist colleagues both within the CPS and elsewhere.

Within SCCTD Special Crime plays a substantial role in delivering a trusted prosecution service of the highest quality, on a consistent basis across all the disciplines.   Our work is often high profile and rightly attracts intense scrutiny.

We pride ourselves on an ethos of continuous improvement, always striving to be better at what we do, working closely across the Division, with the rest of the CPS and with valued partners. We are often at the forefront of testing new offences, making new case law and are frequently consulted on policy and legislative change, all of which makes being part of this Division both exciting and challenging.

The work we do is underpinned by the CPS Values which we strive to reflect in everything we do.   All our staff care passionately about their work and the service we provide to victims, witnesses and the general public.
