Interim Senior Finance Lawyer: Mercedes-Benz Financial Services

Mercedes-Benz Financial Services is seeking to recruit a Banking, Finance and/or Consumer Finance Lawyer to join the team as Senior Finance Lawyer on an interim basis for a period of 9 months, commencing in November. The role is based in Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire and the post-holder reports into the Group General Counsel of Mercedes-Benz UK and the Managing Director of MBFS.

Mercedes-Benz Financial Services (MBFS) is the UK finance and leasing company of Daimler Financial Services AG. It is a full-service automotive finance company that exclusively provides Mercedes-Benz dealers and customers (commercial and personal) with a comprehensive range of financial services - leasing and financing, insurance and banking, and mobility services.

The Role

This role will provide cover for the existing Senior Finance Lawyer who is due to go on maternity leave in November for a period of 9 months. You will assume responsibility for a range of legal, regulatory, risk and compliance matters, as well as management of a junior solicitor.
The role involves a high degree of autonomy and responsibility, and the post-holder will engage with senior stakeholders across the UK business and beyond. Key accountabilities include:
· advising on a broad spectrum of financial activities,
· drafting and perfecting wholesale funding agreements and security documentation,
· advising on credit and lease products,
· general commercial contract drafting; and
· providing advice on strategic projects.
You will also provide regulatory (FCA) and legislative updates, provide legal risk reports, manage external lawyers, train members of staff, and attend legal and regulatory committee meetings. It is expected that you will also operate as the Company Secretary of the Financial Services-related companies, and represent them on the industry trade association (the FLA).

The Person

Applicants for the position of In-house Finance Solicitor should have extensive knowledge and practical experience of Consumer Credit and asset finance together with knowledge/familiarity of CONC, SYSC and other FCA rulebooks. General banking and retail financial services experience is beneficial. Strong legal training at a recognised private practice law firm is essential. Some in-house experience is welcome although not a requirement.
