Legal Counsel, In-house, London, online gaming

The Workshop, a technology company who work within the online gaming industry, based in London's West End are seeking an In-house Legal Counsel to undertake a key role within our legal team.  This is a fantastic opportunity to join a technology driven company which will provide both UK and International exposure. 

Responsible for in-house legal support for The Workshop on domestic and international matters within a business to business environment. The work will include advising on a wide range of commercial agreements on both a bespoke and standard terms basis. 

The in-house Legal Counsel function provides a full service to the business.

Responsibilities: 

  • Commercial and contractual advice to the business, including review and negotiation of customer agreements; procurement agreements for hardware, software and services; product supply agreements 
  • Support and advice on gaming regulatory matters, including comparative analysis of licensing, regulations and technical standards in various jurisdictions where The Workshop clients are licensed and/or operate as well as prospective new markets.
  • Research and respond to general legal inquiries that relate to corporate, litigation, intellectual property and compliance matters.
  • Company secretarial support and internal management of corporate entities. 
  • Liaising with signatories and directors to obtain prompt signature of various instruments.
  • Preparation of drafts, memos and miscellaneous legal documentation, as requested.
  • Respond to internal and external inquiries regarding contractual interpretations, processes and protocols. 
  • Managing one paralegal and one legal consultant. 

Essential Skills & Experience: 

  • This position would ideally suit an individual with 3-5 years PQE.
  • Experience in a commercial/in house environment is essential 
  • Software/technology experience essential
  • A good understanding of GDPR, implementation, processes and initiatives.
  • Contract negotiation experience within technology and software industry. 
  • Strong understanding of contract law and especially in the context of technology and software.
