My client is a local authority legal team in the East Midlands. The authority are seeking to add a Childcare Lawyer to their in-house legal team on a full time locum basis. This is an on-going assignment with a minimum of 3 months guaranteed.
This council is easily reached from the rest of the UK and serves a County steeped in history and covered by beautiful landscapes and scenery. The authority is based in the city surrounded by market towns, villages and natural beauty. The council advises on a wide range of issues and experiences unique to the County, including rural and coastal matters.

The appointed candidate will be required to contribute to the delivery of legal services for the council, providing high quality and efficient legal advice to the council's customers, specifically defending claims made against the Council.

The ideal candidate will be a qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Legal Executive. Applicants should have a thorough understanding and working knowledge of public child care proceedings and be confident undertaking advocacy.

Specific Duties include:
* Handling a caseload of public law childcare matters
* Drafting applications including: secure accommodation orders, section 7 and section 37 reports, supervision orders, emergency protections orders etc.
* Conducting advocacy within the FPC and County Court on both Contested and Non-Contested first Hearings, Directions Hearings, Contested Hearings, CMC's etc

Hourly rate is negotiable dependent upon experience but candidates can expect an offer of circa £40 - £50 per hour (inside IR35).
